At Samsung, “FE” devices on all floors?

At Samsung, devices stamped FE (for Fan Edition) are not new. Inaugurated with a Galaxy S20 FE in 2020, taking up most of the standard Galaxy S20, with some compromises justifying a lower launch price, the mobile was followed by a Galaxy S21 FE, but also tablets, the Tab S7 FE Wi -Fi and 5G, which have adopted the same positioning. While the Galaxy S22 FE generation never saw the light of day, indiscretions are mounting around the Galaxy S23 FE, which is expected to complement the Galaxy S23 series. Successful smartphones, which are also starting to receive Android 14 with OneUI 6 in beta in certain markets.

THE leaker Yogesh Brar, renowned for his generally reliable information, ensures for his part that the wait will not be long: he thinks that the launch of the Galaxy S23 FE will take place in the month of September. He specifies in passing the characteristics he provides for the smartphone, namely a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen (Full HD +), a triple photo module (50, 8 and 12 Mpx), a 4500 mAh battery rechargeable at 25 W and an IP certification. According to him, the terminal would be powered by an Exynos 2200 chip – Yogesh Brar is not the first to mention the integration of the half-tone chipset which officiated, in Europe, on the Galaxy S22 series – or, according to markets, by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Towards Galaxy Z FE?

Will the Galaxy S23 be the only one to inherit an FE version? It’s another leaker, Tech_Reve, who also officiates on X and often turns out to be well informed, who adds his stone to the building. If his assertions are to be considered with the necessary caution, he too claims that the Galaxy S23 FE “will be launched soon”and that it will probably inaugurate a long-lasting range.

But above all, it relays a point that deserves attention: according to its sources, “there are rumors of ongoing testing for the launch of Galaxy Z FE (“lite” model) after the Fold/Flip 6”, that is next year. Insofar as Samsung’s folding smartphones, however successful they may be, show rising prices from year to year (from 1199 € for the current Flip 5 and 1899 € for the Fold 5), the variation of the next wave of folding models, in the summer of 2024, in more affordable versions, is sure to arouse interest. It must be said that other brands are seriously determined to compete with the Korean giant, such as Honor, which is working on a Flip-type smartphone, but also Xiaomi and Motorola, and that the question of price remains decisive for anyone wishing to make this market niche the future smartphone standard.

Another category of devices, this time expected, should also benefit from the FE stamp: tablets. As MySmartPrice notes, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ model appeared on technical certification sites (the NBTC, National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, in Thailand, but also the KTL, for Korean Testing Laboratory, in South Korea), allowing glimpse its wifi and 5G variants. What to hope for marketing in the coming months.
