While the All Saints’ Day holidays are fast approaching, some paper calendars displayed them this week of October 18. Explanations.

Did you plan the program for your All Saints’ Day holidays? Everything will have to be postponed by a week. A reader pointed out to the newspaper L’Indépendant.fr that the vacation dates published in the calendars distributed by letter carriers, firefighters, sports associations and companies do not announce the correct dates for school holidays. Especially for those of All Saints’ Day which, on paper, began on October 16. They will only start on Saturday 23 October and end on Monday 8 November.

The same goes for the Easter holidays, announced from April 19 to 30 instead of April 25 to May 7. For the Christmas and February holidays, the dates are correct. According to the Ouest-France newspaper, in some diaries, a page with a corrected calendar has been added.

Official dates published late

According to The Independent, who carried out a small investigation, the Ministry of Education belatedly published the official vacation dates for the 2021-2022 school year. Indeed, it was not until December 2020 that the dates fell. By that time, the calendars had already been printed. They were then distributed during the month of December. In order not to be late, the printers therefore relied on dates unofficially announced by the Ministry of Education. Still according to L’Indépendant, the initial Monday of the start of the post-All Saints holiday fell on November 1, a public holiday. The ministry therefore decided to change the dates before making them public.
