A man was taken into custody this Saturday, January 8. He is suspected of having stabbed his wife and child on the night from Friday to Saturday in Aubervilliers in Seine-Saint-Denis.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, the emergency services intervened in an apartment in the city center of Aubervilliers to take care of three people including a child. The mother and child died soon after.
The sister of the respondent, also injured, was transported in absolute urgency to the hospital.
An investigation has been opened
In addition to the “family context”, the circumstances of the tragedy are still unclear for the time being, said the prosecution. The man was taken into custody.
The investigation opened for homicide on spouse and parent and for attempted homicide was entrusted to the judicial police service of the department.
According to the latest report from the Ministry of the Interior, 102 women were killed at the hands of their spouse or ex-spouse in 2020. They were 146 in 2019.
