Barbarians: Historic Netflix series is being extended

The streaming service Netflix has announced new German-language series. In addition, "Barbarians" will continue with a second season.

At the first "Content Road Show", which took place due to the Corona pandemic "Remote", the streaming service Netflix presented new series and comedy productions in German-speaking countries. Above all it was announced that the first German historical action series "Barbaren" will get a second season.

"Barbarians" is based on the battle in the Teutoburg Forest. Laurence Rupp, Jeanne Goursaud and David Schütter can be seen in the leading roles. The series is not only available in Germany, but also in many other countries.

New original series

A new production is the four-part series "Terra Vision" (AT), which is based on real events. The focus is on two German computer pioneers who are going to court in the fight against an apparently invincible opponent in order to be recognized as the inventor of the Google Earth algorithm. The script was written by Oliver Ziegenbalg. The director is Robert Thalheim. The cast includes Leonard Schleicher, Marius Ahrendt, Mark Waschke, Misel Maticevic, Lavinia Wilson and Seumas Sargent. The start is expected to take place in summer / autumn 2021.

Another new production is "Kitz", a six-part young adult drama series with thriller elements. One year after the tragic death of her brother, 19-year-old Lisi from Kitzbühel immerses herself in the decadent world of a Munich clique that comes to the luxury ski resort to celebrate every season. But what truth is revealed behind the glamorous facade? The cast includes Sofie Eifertinger, Bless Amada, Valerie Huber, Zoran Pingel and Ben Felipe as well as Krista Tcherneva, Florence Kasumba, Souhaila Amade and Tyron Ricketts. The planned start date is expected to be in the second half of 2021.

Further series productions are planned. Among other things, the second season of "Biohackers" and the third season of "How to Sell Drugs Online (fast)" have already been commissioned. In addition, with the makers of "Dark", Jantje Frize and Baran bo Odar, other series such as "1899" or "Tyll" are implemented.

The documentary series "Das Hausboot" with Olli Schulz and Fynn Kliemann documents the restoration of Gunter Gabriel's (1942-2017) old houseboat by the two artists. During the two sweaty years, the camera was also running when the crisis broke out between them. "Das Hausboot" is to be published in spring 2021. In addition, a comedy special by Hazel Brugger, a comedy format with Oliver Polak and a project with Julien Bam are coming to Netflix.
