Color and shine and still nourishing? These beauty trends really read every wish from our lips. We take a closer look at the two most hyped lip gloss alternatives. What can these products do that our lip gloss cannot?

If you happened to find yourself in the big consumer wormhole of Beauty TikTok videos in the last few weeks, you have certainly not escaped these two trends: Lip oils and lip tints are conquering the beauty world and have a real one on social media Fan base built. But how exactly do the two trends work?

The lip-oil is celebrating its big comeback

What basically looks confusingly similar to a conventional lip gloss is currently conquering social media. Lip oil can be seen everywhere right now. Whether while scrolling on TikTok and Instagram or in the handbags of our friends: inside. Because especially now, when it is getting colder and lips are getting drier due to heating air, lip oil not only gives us that certain glossy glow, but also becomes a real savior on lip care. Lip oil donates significantly more moisture than conventional lip gloss – without sticking. With soft colors and a certain plump effect, the beauty trend has built a decent fan base for a reason.

How exactly does lip oil work?

Applying an oil to the lips may sound strange at first. Lip oils add shine and are generally more nourishing than lip balms. They are also more highly pigmented and thus strengthen the natural color of the lips. Applied to the lips, the product penetrates deeply to moisturize and nourish the skin, unlike many lip balms that just apply to the skin. This means that you have to constantly reapply. In addition, many lip oils are formulated with moisturizing and moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to soften, smooth and keep the lips free from cracks.

Lip tints go viral

Lip tints, also known as lip stains, have also been everywhere on social media in recent months. The product acts like a liquid lipstick and is often a single-use product. With this novelty, which looks like a cotton swab, special color gradients can be created. Ombre lips are also often made up with lip stains.

How do lip tints work?

Lip tints have a very light texture and are often based on shea butter, olive oil, sunflower seed oil or almond oil. Lip stains provide the lips with moisture for up to 24 hours. For the perfect look, you should first apply a little concealer to the lips and only then dab the color in the middle of the lip. You can now use your fingers or a cotton swab to blend the liquid all the way to the edges so that the center remains the lightest. And the trendy look is ready on your lips.
