As soon as the OpenAI GPT Store opened, who rushed to this new marketplace? Chatbots that may violate the T&Cs, including bots designed to have erotic conversations.
So I entered the keyword “girlfriend” into the GPT Store and found 11 chatbots to chat with. Other keywords, such as “boyfriend” and “lover,” brought up other chatbots with obviously similar functions.
I tried Judy, the most popular “girlfriend” chatbot on the store right now. Currently, Judy has just over 1,000 users. When I connected with Judy, I was faced with basic questions like, “What does the woman of your dreams look like?” and “Share your daring secret.”
Very vague rules
I also checked out a chatbot called “My Tiefling Girlfriend.” I’ve seen questions like “Are there holes in your underwear?” and “Tell me about your experiences with your past girlfriends.”
However, the GPT Store does not authorize chatbots of this type. According to the Open AI Rules, the creation and distribution of chatbots designed to facilitate inappropriate conversations or perform regulated activities is prohibited. This rule was created shortly after the launch of the GPT Store.
And Judy and other chatbots are highly likely to break this rule. Of course, OpenAI has not clearly defined which activities are subject to regulation. The company also did not specify the penalties incurred in the event of violation of the regulations. This means that there is no way to sanction the creators of these tools.
However, some believe that it is undesirable to regulate the GPT Store too strictly. “The GPT Store is still in its infancy,” said a former judge when asked about it, “and this problem will be temporary.”
“The first step is to increase the number of users and carry out an evaluation and collect user feedback,” he continues, adding that “it is possible that self-regulation will occur within the GPT Store” .
