The preliminary tests for the 30 candidates for Miss France 2024 are enriched this year with a dictation exercise. An initiative pushed by Cindy Fabre, whom Aufeminin met in Guyana.
The 30 candidates for the Miss France 2024 election flew to Cayenne in Guyana to carry out their preparatory trip. A stay during which the beauty queens carry out different masterclasses and exercises: catwalk and sophrology classes, cooking workshops, musical creation classes to imagine the misses’ anthem but also the highly anticipated general knowledge test. A series of tests which allows the candidates to be prepared for the competition, to strengthen team cohesion, but also for the committee to select the 15 semi-finalists of the competition.
For the first time and under the leadership of Cindy Fabrethe emblematic general knowledge test will be accompanied bya dictation exercise. Aufeminin met the director of the Miss France competition, she told us more about this new feature and her desire to highlight French culture and language.

A text written especially for the Misses
Last summer, Cindy Fabre was the mistress of ceremonies for Dictée pour tous, an event initiated by Abdellah Boudour launched in 2013, throughout France. “I find that dictation is part of French culture and values. This dictation was written by Sonia Salhi, professor of literature from Marseille and writer of the book Dictée pour tous, it is a text specially thought out and imagined for the Misses. He advocates the values of the competition, it makes a lot of senseand it is also punctuated with some Guyanese touches…” reveals the competition director. More than a simple exercise, this test is fundamental for the future Miss France who is required throughout her reign to write different texts and documents. “In an era where technology invites us to make voice notes or videos, it is important that Miss France also knows how to master writing” underlines Cindy Fabre.

The regional Misses will have to avoid certain traps
The dictation exercise will be carried out following the general knowledge test: “The misses will have to write 3 large paragraphs with as few mistakes as possible. Even forgetting a comma can be considered a mistake. There will be traps, little nods to Guyana.” explains Cindy Fabre. The French will also be able to join in the game.
