Game News Blizzard: After the agreement with Microsoft, the studio is already embarking on a new promising project
You have surely heard of the latest big news that has shaken up the world of video games… Microsoft plans to spend nearly 69 billion dollars to acquire the American giant Activision-Blizzard. And if the takeover has not yet taken place (the deal will normally be concluded in July 2023), the major projects have already been launched.
While former Activision-Blizzard build their own studio, namely New Tales, Blizzard, for its part, looks to the future. If several future projects of the firm already announced are eagerly awaited by the players, we think in particular of Overwatch 2 or even Diablo IV, the American studio also seems to have some additional surprises in its sleeve.
A new license from Blizzard
The American studio has just teased their next game by posting job offers on Twitter. Indeed, Blizzard is currently looking for a Environment Artista) Senior Character Artista) Technical Artista) VFX Artist and an) Senior Concept Artist. But that’s not all, six jobs have also opened their doors in design and engineering. But what is behind these announcements?
All these offers are for a new production which, for the moment, has not yet revealed its name. According to the tweet that you can contemplate below, it will be a survival game that will move away from the already established universes, namely that of World of Warcraft, but also Diablo and Overwatch, for unveil a whole new world to explore and a whole new lore to discover.
Blizzard embarks on its next quest. We’re off on a journey to an all-new universe, home to an all-new survival game for PC and console. A place filled with heroes we have yet to meet, but also with stories that have not been told and adventures that have not been experienced. What do we know about this next production?
For now, the survival game remains enigmatic, but it still revealed two artworks (the first above and the second below). Let’s focus on the second which is much more telling. The latter reveals in particular that the next production of Blizzard will take place in a whimsical world that seems to have mixed with our current world. As you can see, we can see a floating city in the distance, which shows that we will be dealing with a magical world. But in the foreground, two characters dressed like real city dwellers (tracksuit, jeans, backpack…) are standing on rocks. On their left, a bicycle is also leaning against a wall. These elements are therefore close to our reality… A lot of clues for a single image therefore.
As a reminder, the survival game is expected on PC and consoles. Unfortunately, even if it is easy to imagine that Microsoft machines are included in the equation, we have no idea if this new license will also land at PlayStation. Wait & See as the saying goes.
