Politicians love social networks. A good way to reach as many people as possible, and especially young people, they think. Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, the Minister of Transport, understood this well. In June, he opened an account on TikTok, the popular social network for teens, and now has more than 640,000 subscribers. On board a metro, behind the wheel of an electric car, on his bicycle or at the controls of a train, the 39-year-old minister appears and often plays comedy in short videos. And it pleases. Among the thousands of comments under his posts on TikTok, many are benevolent. Some see in Djebbari their “Preferred minister”, while others encourage him outright to run for president.
