From home appliances to DIY, via connected health, Bosch has more than one string to its bow. It takes advantage of its small notoriety in the “smart” home sector to market Spexor, a nomadic security box that analyzes air quality.
At first glance, the Bosch Spexor looks like a connected gadget or a classic little voice assistant. Except that the German manufacturer has designed here a much more complex object, likely to be very practical when traveling.
Compact (7 cm in diameter and 11 cm in height), very light (350 g) and wireless, Spexor is in fact a security box that you can take everywhere with you. In his car, his house, his garage, outdoors and indoors, he is supposed to withstand the most extreme temperatures, from -10 ° C to 60 ° C, according to the manufacturer.
This device detects intrusions within a radius of 5 m thanks to integrated movement sensors, but also pressure and sound sensors.
When Spexor detects the presence of an individual, it notifies its owner by means of a notification on the smartphone. It is also possible to activate an alarm which will send an audible signal of 85 dB (A). Enough to cover a discussion widely, without alerting the whole neighborhood. In comparison, the Netatmo Smart Indoor Siren emits up to 110 dB (A).
Note that Spexor does not require a wifi connection, but a Bluetooth connection. And that the alarm system comes with an integrated eSIM card, free for the first year. From the 13e month, it will be billed € 11.99 per year.
A “Swiss Army Knife” which also analyzes air quality
Autonomy side, Bosh announces a battery supposed to last two to three weeks in energy saving mode. As for the charging time, count 8 hours to re-inflate the assistant’s batteries.
A true Swiss Army knife, the Spexor is also able to analyze the quality of the air in the house and warn the user in the event of pollution. Every 30 s, fine particle sensors measure the C0 concentration rate2 and CoV (volatile organic compounds).
The Spexor also has sensors to measure the temperature as well as the humidity of the room. The analyzed data is sent directly to the dedicated application, Bosch Spexor.
