After the surprise Smile last September, it’s the turn of another horror film to settle at the top of the French box office: M3gan! On its first day of operation, the film Gerard Johnstone took the lead with 57,094 horror fans.

In second place, Mathilde Seigner and her choir of rockers attracted more than 26,000 onlookers. The comedy precedes the Italian biopic Caravaggio, dedicated to the famous painter. Carried by Riccardo Scamarcio, Isabelle Huppert and Louis Garrel, the work claims nearly 19,000 torn tickets.

Failing at the foot of the podium, The Banshees of Inisherin, led by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, made a rather solid start with 17,942 admissions. Martin McDonagh’s previous film, 3 Billboards, had a best first day in 2018 with 25,864 viewers.

In 5th place, the drama La Passagère, carried by the duo Cécile de France and Félix Lefebvre, brought together 8,684 people. He is ahead of Joyland, Vivre and Par coeurs, a documentary by Benoît Jacquot with Isabelle Huppert and Fabrice Luchini.
