Arsenal and Newcastle are picking up where they left off before the World Cup break: Leader Arsenal – with Nati captain Granit Xhaka on the field for over 90 minutes – beat West Ham United 3-1 on « Boxing Day” was the 13th win in the 15th championship game of the season. Although the Gunners were 1-0 down, the north Londoners are now 7 points ahead of Newcastle United and 8 ahead of holders Manchester City, who have however played 2 games less.

Liverpool, who were in a bit of a crisis ahead of the World Cup, got back into the league with a 3-1 win at Aston Villa. Despite a 2-0 lead at the break, the “Reds” were once again not solid on the defensive. Even with the 3 points in their luggage, the gap to fourth-placed Tottenham (with a game in hand) is still 5 points.

Gakpo is moving to Liverpool

Liverpool FC can look forward to Dutch World Cup discovery Cody Gakpo. As his previous club PSV Eindhoven announced on Monday evening, the 23-year-old attacker will “travel to England immediately, where he will complete the necessary formalities for the transfer” to Liverpool FC.
