Brazil: Rio carnival parade postponed to April because of coronavirus

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – Rio’s famous carnival parade has been postponed until late April due to a resurgence of the coronavirus outbreak as the Omicron variant spreads rapidly across Brazil, authorities said on Friday.

A similar decision was taken in Sao Paulo.

The two major Brazilian cities had previously canceled parades and festivities in the streets due to the health crisis, but had so far maintained the parades scheduled for the end of February.
