Brazilian ETFs retreat after Lula’s presidential victory


LONDON (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Brazilian exchange-traded funds (ETFs) fell on Monday after left-wing candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defeated incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro in the second round of Brazil’s presidential election. The MSCI Brazil UCITS ETF, listed in London, lost 4%, while the Amundi MSCI Brazil UCITS ETF, listed in Paris, lost 3%. In pre-opening trade in the US, the iShares MSCI Brazil ETF fell 5%. Lula won the election with 50.9% of the vote. Jair Bolsonaro has yet to concede defeat.
