Breaking tradition: Fortnite removes the most important feature

In the battle royale competition, Fortnite stands out above all due to the versatile possibility of building buildings and structures. In Chapter 3 Season 2, this important feature has now been removed.

Of course, this is not purely arbitrary on the part of Epic Games, instead the twist is a central part of the story in Chapter 3, Season 2. The IO is trying to conquer the Fortnite island again and has a secret weapon in its luggage: a technology which makes building impossible. So has now each character has an additional shield that regenerates automatically. You can also for a short time sprint and pull yourself up on ledges. This makes movement all the more important in the current season, instead of building towering fortresses as soon as there is an exchange of fire.

Epic Games is currently donating proceeds from Fortnite to humanitarian aid projects for people affected by the war in Ukraine. Will building in Fortnite return anytime soon?

The story trailer suggests that it is is a temporary measure. After all, the main motivation of the season is to fend off the attackers and thereby regain the all-important ability. However, it is currently not possible to say whether this will happen in the coming weeks or whether construction will only return in full in Season 3. Chapter 3 Season 2 has been playable since March 20, 2022 and is expected to last three months.
