An easy aperitif recipe that will please both children and adults

When you organize an aperitif at home, you always have the responsibility to choose things that will please everyone. While it is generally easy to please adults, children are a little more demanding. It is frankly not certain that they will devour your delicious tuna acras all raw while reblochon bricks, there is little doubt that they will ignore them. The call of melted cheese is too strong for them to resist. We explain how to cook this great idea for an aperitif.

The list of ingredients for 12 bricks:

  • 12 sheets of brick
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 half reblochon
  • 4 potatoes
  • 12 slices of smoke
  • 1 teaspoon of brown sugar

The steps of the recipe:

  1. Start by heating a large pot of salted water for the potatoes. Don’t wait for it to boil, immerse them directly in cold water.
  2. Peel and finely slice the onion.
  3. Heat a pan with a drizzle of olive oil and brown the onion for a few minutes. Cook’s tip: add a spoonful of brown sugar so that your onions are well caramelized.
  4. When the potatoes are cooked, roughly cut them into slices.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare the reblochon. Cut it into slices then divide them in two. Surround each piece of Reblochon with a slice of bacon.
  6. Place the larded slices of Reblochon cheese in the center of a pastry sheet. Add a spoonful of caramelized onion then finish with a slice of cooked potato. Fold the edges towards the middle then also fold the lower part of your brick sheet towards the middle and roll everything up. The objective is to obtain rectangular bricks that hold together well.
  7. Heat a pan with a little oil and fry your bricks until they are golden brown.

What oil to use for frying in a pan?

Some oils are not suitable for frying foods because at high temperatures certain substances can degrade and become toxic to health. To fry food, the oil must reach at least 175°C, so you should choose a variety that can withstand this much heat. So, peanut, sunflower or grapeseed oil are ideal for this use.
