Home office should be tax deductible in the long term
Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner is considering making work in the home office tax-deductible beyond the regulation on the coronavirus pandemic. Before the outbreak of the pandemic and until the end of last year, income-related expenses and operating expenses for the home workplace could only be taken into account when the work was carried out in a specially reserved study. This regulation has been softened as part of the home office obligation. “I think it is conceivable that we will turn the exception rule into a permanent rule,” said Lindner of the Funke media group.

New iPhone Spyware Predator
The Canadian Citizen Lab has published the first details on a new spyware from a largely unknown competitor of the NSO Group. The spy software called “Predator” was found on the devices of two exiled Egyptians: the politician Aiman Nur and an unnamed “spokesman for a popular news program”. The politician’s iPhone was infected with Predator and the NSO Group’s Pegasus spy software at the same time. Predator was probably installed via a manipulated website – after clicking a link sent via WhatsApp. The spyware is developed by the still largely unknown company Cytrox, which is based in Israel and Hungary, among others. In addition to an iOS version, Predator also seems to be available in a variant for Android, according to the security researchers.

Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke clearly rejects requests for extended operating times for the still existing nuclear power plants. “The occasional calls for term extensions are of no use to anyone, but only create unnecessary uncertainty,” said the Green politician of the dpa.
