According to official interim results, the party of the entertainer Slavi Trifonov was second on Monday with 23.66 percent behind the bourgeois party GERB (23.91) of ex-Prime Minister Boiko Borissow.
According to opinion pollers, this interim result of the early election on Sunday should turn in favor of Trifonov, so that his party, as the strongest political force in parliament, will receive a government contract.
A total of six parties have overcome the four percent hurdle. It was initially unclear whether Trifonov set up his cabinet of experts on his own or after consultations with the other protest parties.
The well-known economic and financial expert Nikolaj Wassilew is to become Prime Minister in a one-party government formed by the ITN. From 2001 to 2009 he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in two governments. Some of the nominated ministers are completely unknown.
The Central Election Commission (ZIK) has so far counted 95 percent of the votes domestically, but far fewer from abroad. Eligible Bulgarians have voted in 68 countries. The populist ITN is a favorite among voters abroad. After the closing of the polling stations in Germany, there were only forecasts by pollsters. The final result should be available on July 18th.
