One in five French people has already been robbed, and 53% of our compatriots fear being robbed. A study carried out by a consultancy firm specializing in advice and claims management confirms that these fears are not unfounded. “Most burglaries take place during the summer period, when the accommodation is empty, and in December, during the Christmas period. New and wrapped gifts can have a high resale value and attract criminals, "said the author of the study.
But it’s not just empty houses that attract criminals. If 30% of burglaries take place in July and 30% in August, someone is present in the accommodation in a third of the cases. An open window inevitably stirs up the desire to break in.
As for the rest of the year, it is neither at the weekend nor at night that the packages take place most of the time but well during the day (at 70%) and in the middle of the week (at 80%), often l afternoon (43% of burglaries are committed between 2 and 6 p.m.).
