Coast of Nights

Maison Edouard Delaunay, burgundy, “September”, 2018

This contemporary Chardonnay vinified in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits by this wine merchant, which is reborn after a long hiatus, is a wonderful discovery. Its access is easy thanks to its notes of yellow fruits. While keeping an elegant style, it reveals a sexy roundness, haloed with nuances of lemon verbena. 13 €. Edouard-delaunay.com

Domaine Aegerter, Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits Burgundy, “Les Petites Corvées”, 2017

Still slightly closed, this 2017 deserves to be decanted to appreciate its refined tangy base, its fine delicacy and its balanced substance. This family estate is one of those who have helped “modernize” Burgundy, to change the lines a little. It’s up to everyone to make up their own mind In any case, here is a contemporary Chardonnay from a beautiful Burgundy. € 19.90. Aegerter.fr

Domaine Michel Magnien, burgundy chardonnay, “Bons Bâtons”, 2018

It’s almost impossible to find bottles for less than 20 euros at Magnien, which biodynamically produces superb wines from the Côte de Nuits. An additional reason therefore to rush for this Chardonnay which smells of grapefruit and white flowers, and offers a nice minerality. A nice find. 20 €. Domaine-magnien.com

Beaune Coast

Nuiton-Beaunoy, Hautes-Côtes-de-Beaune, “En Pain Perdu”, 2018

If Burgundy wines intimidate you, push the door of the Nuiton-Beaunoy cellar – a group of winegrowers, since 1957, from the Côtes de Nuits and Beaune: the choice and the prices (very many appellations under 20 euros) will allow you to find your cuvée. Like this chardonnay, gourmet, which offers its notes of grilled almonds and white-fleshed fruits. In pinot version, red fruits and some roasted hints. To seize without any reservation. € 11.50. Moillard Grivot, burgundy, “Signature”, 2019

The Moillard house produces wines over twenty hectares and is also a trader (three cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Beaune and Meursault). This wax-sealed bottle seems to make a nod to Meursault, as the wine it contains plays on opulence. The aromatic is seductive, between lime blossom and vanilla, quite marked by the barrel. On the palate, it offers a very round structure but retains enough tension on the finish to fully convince us. Something to delight lovers of ample and generous wines. € 15. Moillard.fr
