Scalpers take advantage of the fact that millions of fans also want to buy the PS5 from Amazon and offer consoles at outrageous prices.

- The PS5 is sold out almost everywhere.
- Brazen offers also appear on Amazon.
In January, Amazon sold the PS5 again at a normal price of 500 euros for the disk version. Of course, the contingent was sold out in a very short time, but there are still offers from providers who only use Amazon as a sales platform.
If you select “All offers” on the PlayStation 5 product page at the top right, you will see a list of available consoles, but at extremely high prices. 892 euros for used consoles, 1,100 euros for new models. Here, customers pay double the recommended retail price.
What’s nasty is that frustrated fans who don’t get a device from a sale (“drop”) might accept a surcharge. But we strongly advise against buying consoles at such prices. The products are completely overpriced and the suppliers are apparently only interested in getting as much money as possible at a time of high demand.
There are alternatives
You can order a PS5 from O2 with a contract and still get it cheaper with the costs for the console and two years for the tariff.
And if you’d be okay with a surcharge, check out eBay or StockX for a PS5. With luck you can get a new model for around 600 euros. While that would be more expensive than the RRP, it would be far cheaper than the astronomically high prices circulating on Amazon.
Many fans continue to hope that Otto will soon be offering PS5 consoles again. At the beginning of 2022, shops such as Media Markt, Saturn and Medimax had already sold devices.
