Great Britain mourns the national hero after the death of Captain Tom Moore. The condolences from the Queen to Boris Johnson.

After the death of Captain Tom, politicians, celebrities and royals express their condolences to the world-famous fundraiser. The royal family announcedthat Queen Elizabeth II (94) will send a private letter of condolence to the family of Captain Sir Tom Moore. It continued: "Your Majesty has enjoyed meeting Captain Sir Tom and his family in Windsor last year. Your thoughts and those of the Royal Family are with you."

Prime Minister Boris Johnson (56) has already published one Statement on Twitter. In it he describes Moore as a "true hero" and a "beacon of hope for the world". Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron, 54, wrote on the short message service: "Captain Sir Tom Moore has been an inspiration – he has brightened a year that has been very dark for many."

Former CNN presenter Piers Morgan (55) calls Moore in his statement on Twitter a "great man" and "national hero" and wrote, "Let us all heed his mantra in our lives: 'Tomorrow will be a good day'".

In 2020, in the middle of the corona pandemic, Captain Tom raised almost 40 million euros to fight corona with a donation run. For this he had run 100 laps through his backyard with his rollator. In July of last year, the Queen ennobled the World War veteran with an accolade. On Tuesday, his daughters announced that the 100-year-old had died of coronavirus infection.
