Casino lowers its Ebitda forecast for distribution in France in 2021


PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The retail group Casino announced on Friday evening that it had lowered its estimate of gross operating surplus (EBITDA) for its retail brands in France in 2021 and now anticipates a decline in this indicator. , after a more difficult than expected fourth quarter.

The group estimates that the Ebitda of distribution in France fell by 1.7% in 2021, to around 1.28 billion euros against 1.3 billion euros in 2020. Last November, Casino had indicated that it expected on an increase in the EBITDA of its distribution brands in France in 2021.

“The fourth quarter of 2021 was marked in France by a temporarily shrinking market, in stronger than expected proportions, with a change in the food distribution market of -3.7% at the national level and -5.6% in Ile de France”, said the distributor in a press release.

Casino will publish its results for the fourth quarter and the full year 2021 on February 25.
