Cause a mystery – landslide in Tyrol: concrete wall fell in the garden

Merry Christmas! Homeowners in the Tyrolean Grinzens (district of Innsbruck-Land) could have done without this “Christmas surprise”. Because of a landslide, a wall collapsed into their properties.

Around noon, the wall came loose on a higher property and toppled over. As a result, stones and masses of earth fell into the garden below, taking the vegetation with them. As the police confirmed to the “Krone”, nobody was injured. According to the executive, the reason for the landslide was the heavy rainfall of the last few days, “which soaked the slope so that it slowly slipped down together with the concrete wall and endangered the houses underneath”. Grinzen mayor Anton Bucher inspected the spot with the state geologist and then ordered an entry order. The fire brigade secured the slope against further ingress of water so that it cannot sink any further.
