For Alienware, CES is the opportunity to present a 14-inch in the X range. An m17 R5 equipped with AMD processors and graphics cards is also making its appearance, while the rest of the series runs under Intel Alder Lake.
It is Alienware’s turn to take advantage of new features from its partners Nvidia, Intel and AMD to update its laptops.
Starting with those of the X range, models gaming thin and light, which now use Intel Core 12 processorse generation and the new Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti graphics cards. These are the respectively x15 R2 and x17 R2 in 15 and 17 inches which benefit from these innovations.
For Alienware, it is also an opportunity to enrich its X series with a 14-inch screen equipped with a Full HD 144 Hz panel compatible with G-Sync. A sort of homecoming for the manufacturer who had ceased production of this format. Like its predecessors, the Alienware x14 has an Intel Core i7-12700H or Core i9-12900H (14T / 20C) processor, coupled with 32 GB of DDR5 unfortunately soldered. On the graphics card side, the x14 accommodates, depending on the configurations, a GeForce RTX 3050, 3050 Ti or 3060 Ti with an 85 W TGP. Alienware also mentions an Intel Arc graphics card, without giving more details on the model or the availablity.
On this x14, Alienware has the good idea to use a USB-C port for power with a 130W charger, another step towards the end of proprietary chargers on laptops. Note also the smoothness of the machine, with a thickness of only 14.5 mm. For comparison, the newly announced ROG Zephyrus G14 from Asus is 19.5mm thick.
A newcomer to the AMD Advantage program
As for the M range, powerful and uncompromising laptops, the m15 R7 and m17 R5 models also adopt the Intel Core 12e generation and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000. But the main novelty is the switch to all-AMD with the m17 R5 Ryzen Edition.
Depending on the configuration, this computer can be equipped with AMD Ryzen 7 6800H, Ryzen 9 6900HX or 6980HX processors, associated up to 64 GB of DDR5, and AMD Radeon RX 6700M (135 W) or RX 6850M XT (175 W) graphics cards ), recently announced. It therefore joins the AMD Advantage program alongside the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 or the Lenovo Legion 5 and its Radeon RX6600M.
For the moment, Alienware has not revealed any prices or availability dates for its new products.
