Manufacturer LG Electronics has presented its new range of Oled televisions (A2, B2, C2, G2 and Z2) for 2022, with smaller and larger sizes in 42 and 97 inches, as well as peak brightness. rising.

Continuing on from the range, LG A2, B2, C2, G2 and Z2 televisions replace the A1, B1, C1, G1 and Z1 models from 2021. The A2 and B2 models do not change much, only the processor is upgraded to generation 5 and webOS in version 22. The real novelties are to be found in the C2 range which inherits a new 42-inch diagonal and the new Oled Evo panel hitherto reserved for the G1 from the South Korean manufacturer . This Oled Evo panel is not available on the 42 and 48 inch models.

The other big novelty concerns the G2 which embeds the new Oled EX panel from LG Display called Oled Evo with Brightness Booster from LG. This panel would have a specific cooling system, like Panasonic’s OLED televisions, which would tease a peak brightness of 1000 cd / m², like the Panasonic 65JZ2000. The LG G2 will also be the only model available in the new 97-inch (246 cm) diagonal.

All these new models should carry fifth generation processors: Alpha 7 Gen 5 for the A2 and B2, Alpha 9 Gen 5 AI 4K for the other 4K models (C2 and G2), and finally the Alpha 9 Gen 5 AI 8K for the 8K LG Z2 model. These processors should be slightly more powerful than those of last year. LG would have especially improved the Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro feature, in particular to manage the brightness levels more finely. In line with the 2021 models, these televisions retain HDMI 2.1 compatibility with support for 4K / 120 Hz signals (except the A2), VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility, Filmmaker mode , Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Vision.

Now called webOS 22, the new version of the LG operating system introduces the concept of a user profile so that everyone can customize the shortcuts to their favorite streaming services and thus receive content recommendations based on their tastes and history. This system will also support Matter, a new communication system for smart devices supposed to be universal, thus ensuring compatibility between several brands and platforms, supported in particular by Amazon, Google and Apple.

LG televisions have also been compatible with the video game streaming services Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now since the end of last year, and this will obviously be the case with the 2022 models. Finally, the C2 and G2 models are equipped with a new video sharing feature from one room to another in order to share the TNT, cable and satellite tuners from one TV to another. The LG G2 will also have a specific Always Ready feature which will allow certain information to be displayed permanently on the screen (time, title of a piece of music, etc.), with probably management of the position of the pixels to avoid the marking.

The Oled 2022 televisions should be available in spring 2022. As every year, the LG C2 and G2 TVs should be available around April. The A2 model should arrive a little later, while the LG B2 will not be expected until this summer. Finally, it should be noted that LG’s roll-up television, the LG 65R1, has not been updated, but remains in the catalog for 2022 at the same price, or around € 85,000. Prices for Oled models are expected to be close to last year, around € 1,800 for the LG 55C2.
