BEIJING, April 15 (Reuters) – The Chinese military is conducting military drills around Taiwan, Beijing state television said on Friday.
These maritime maneuvers are a response to “bad signals” sent by the United States on the question of Taiwan, said a spokesman for the Chinese army.
Six US parliamentarians, including Bob Menendez, chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, traveled to Taiwan on Thursday for an impromptu trip.
They are due to meet Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen this Friday. (Yew Lun Tian; French version Nicolas Delame)
