"Clouds" launches on October 16 on Disney +. In the interview, the leading actors reveal why the film is coming out at exactly the right time.

It is an emotional and true story of friendship, love and the power of music that the streaming service Disney + presents from October 16th. The drama "Clouds", which is based on the book "Clouds: A Memoir" by Laura Sobiech, is all about her musical son Zach, who lives with a rare form of bone cancer. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the actors Neve Campbell (47, "Scream") and Fin Argus (22) tell how they tried to live up to the story of Zach Sobiech (1995-2013) and explain why they did "Clouds" message in the Corona year 2020 is particularly important.

The cast had to be "vulnerable"

"I still freak out when I see a movie scene," says Argus, referring to his first lead role in a major feature film. In his role as Zach, the 22-year-old American learns that his cancer has spread and tries to get a record deal. He is supported by his parents Rob and Laura, who are played by Tom Everett Scott (50, "From woman to woman") and Neve Campbell.

"I remember reading the script and thinking: It demands a lot," says the Canadian. Like her young co-star, she tried to tell the emotional story of the future member of A Firm Handshake "in a dignified way". For this to work, all actors, including Sabrina Carpenter (21, "The Hate U Give") and Madison Iseman (23, "Annabelle 3"), according to newcomer Argus, "had to be very vulnerable and open up very quickly".

"You find out that you are dying, so just start living"

The recurring message in "Clouds" is "You find out that you are dying, so just start living". A message that "needs to be heard more than ever in a year like this, in which everyone is confronted with their own mortality," says the 22-year-old. He hopes that in times of the corona pandemic, viewers will be inspired just like himself to "pay attention to the value and beauty that it possesses" every day.

Campbell is of the opinion that the new film by director Justin Baldoni (36, "Jane the Virgin") fits into the present day. "We can choose whether we want to live in a state of fear or not," she says. The main character Zach's message is "not to live in fear – despite everything that may be in store for you".

"Clouds" should start in the cinema

"Clouds" was not originally supposed to appear directly on Disney +, but instead celebrate its premiere on the big screen. However, the effects of the corona pandemic on the film industry thwarted Warner Bros.'s plans. In May of this year, the film studio awarded the distribution rights to the streaming service.
