Corona current: Rehabilitation clinic has to close after the outbreak

In a rehab clinic on the Baltic Sea, 30 people were infected with the corona virus. Now the clinic has to close.

It is actually a place of relaxation: In the Prerow Rehabilitation Clinic, people with orthopedic, skin and, of all things, respiratory diseases are treated. However, the coronavirus has now spread there.

30 people infected with corona in a rehabilitation clinic

Initially, only two patients tested positive, as reported by the NDR. All 200 patients and 100 employees then underwent a corona test – which was positive in 28 other people. As a result, the clinic has now been closed.

The reason for the drastic decision was that nobody knew where the coronavirus originally came from. The chains of infection were no longer traceable, as the clinic boss informed the NDR. Now work should be done to discharge the patients according to hygiene regulations.

The infection process in the clinic should first be under control with the rapid closure. So far, all infected people have also had a mild course of Covid-19.

Germany reported a new negative record of new infections on Thursday: The Robert Koch Institute announced 19,990 new corona cases. With the increasing number of infections, several problems arise: Not only the hospitals, but also the test laboratories and health authorities are reaching their limits. According to the Tagesschau, there is already a backlog of samples. Those affected therefore have to wait longer and longer for the test, the result and notification by the health department.

Both Chancellor Angela Merkel and virologists like Christian Drosten are currently warning that the chains of infection are no longer traceable. In a large number of corona cases, one no longer knows where the patient could actually have been infected. Now the hope remains that the so-called lockdown light will bring the infection situation in Germany back under control.
