Coronavirus: Prince Charles infected, the Queen is not affected

Her successor to the throne was infected with the corona virus, but Queen Elizabeth II (93) is "in good health". Buckingham Palace announced this according to "Independent". A spokesman for Prince Charles (71) had previously confirmed that he had tested positive for the virus. The Queen last saw her eldest son on March 12, the royal family said, and the monarch also followed all "advice about her well-being". The statement also confirmed that 98-year-old Prince Philip was not attending Charles and his mother's meeting at Buckingham Palace.

Prince Charles was tested for the corona virus two days ago after showing "mild symptoms" over the weekend. Otherwise, the 71-year-old is in good health and has been working from home as usual in the past few days, a spokesman said. His wife Camilla (72) was also tested, but did not have the virus. In consultation with the government and doctors, the couple quarantined in Scotland at Balmoral Castle.

Where did Charles get infected?

The spokesman said it is impossible to tell where the heir to the throne got the virus from, as he has had a large number of public appointments in the past few weeks. Among other things, Charles met Prince Albert of Monaco (62), who was also infected with the corona virus, as has been known since March 19. Charles had greeted Albert at a charity event in London a few days earlier. An employee of Buckingham Palace had also tested positive.
