Countess Sophie von Wessex: The 55-year-old wishes Meghan and Harry the best

Countess Sophie von Wessex (55) became the daughter-in-law of Queen Elizabeth II (94) through her marriage to Prince Edward (56) in June 1999. Like Duchess Meghan (38, "Suits"), she too comes from a middle-class middle-class family and was eagle-eyed by the media after she became part of the royal family. In conversation with the British "Sunday Times", the countess now showed sympathy for ex-actress Meghan, who is building a new life in Los Angeles after retiring from the royal family with Prince Harry (35) and the one-year-old Archie.

"Remember I had five years to adjust," the countess told the Sunday newspaper about her long pre-marital relationship with Prince Edward. The 55-year-old further emphasized that she had already lived in Buckingham Palace during her six-month engagement period. "Not that you necessarily know how it will end." Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry had been in love for less than two years when they married in Windsor Castle in May 2018.

"I just hope that you will be happy"

During her time at Frogmore Cottage, Meghan had apparently built a relatively close bond with Countess Sophie, who lives on the Bagshot Park estate just 16 kilometers away. "We are all trying to help a new member of the family," said the former PR manager. The countess wished her nephew Harry and his wife the best for their new life in far-away L.A.: "I just hope that they will be happy."
