Sliced bread or country bread: which one to choose to make crispy croque monsieur?

The characteristic of a croque monsieur is obviously to be dripping with cheese, but also to be crispy. If you are crunchy, it is important to be careful about the bread you choose. Out of habit, we often opt for sandwich bread. It’s a good option that’s generally inexpensive, but it’s not the tastiest or crunchiest. On the other hand, if you prefer this type of bread, opt for slices with a dense and large crumb. The best option remains country bread. Its thicker slices and already crispy crust are ideal for making delicious croque monsieur.
