The report issued Thursday evening by Public Health France announces a figure of contaminations still very high, even if it is below the record of Wednesday

The number of Covid-19 contaminations remains at a very high level, above 200,000, and hospitalizations are still increasing, according to official figures released Thursday evening. For the day of Thursday, 261,481 new cases were registered. It is less than the day before (332 252), but these daily shifts are not very significant because they can be due to statistical catch-ups.

To smooth these differences, we calculate the number of new daily cases observed on average over the last seven days. On Thursday, it went above 200,000 for the first time (204,662). He had passed the 100,000 mark just eight days earlier, on December 29.

Beyond the cases of contamination, the wave continues to rise in the hospital. 21,169 Covid patients are hospitalized in France, including 3,759 in critical care, reserved for the most serious cases, against respectively 16,000 and 3,200 two weeks previously.

While the bill on the vaccine pass was adopted by the deputies, nearly 120,000 first injections of vaccine were made in two days: more than 53,000 Thursday, after more than 66,000 Wednesday (which was a first since October 1).

In total, more than 53 million people have received at least one injection (or 78.8% of the total population) and nearly 52 million have a complete vaccination schedule (or 77% of the total population). Almost 27 million people have received a booster dose.
