Covid-19 in the Dordogne: “extreme tension” at the Périgueux hospital

The establishment is still in level 2 white plan, with 46 patients suffering from Covid-19 in its services, including seven in intensive care. Emergencies also record a “very high” level of activity, with an average of 140 visits per day (compared to an ordinary average of 115) and even a peak of 166 on Monday February 7. Added to this is an “absenteeism rate never before reached in the care services which disrupts their organization”.

To be able to reassign staff, “we had to deprogram surgery activity by 40%”, explains the hospital management, while emphasizing that these are interventions which “can be shifted in time” without endangering the health of the patient. “The people concerned are contacted by the secretariats, it is essential not to deprogram their care on their own initiative. »

Visits remain suspended except for medical decision and special situations (paediatrics, end of life, etc.).
