Covid-19: “We have reason to be optimistic today”, says Gabriel Attal

Invited to CNEWS on Tuesday, the government spokesperson was positive about the health situation in France

Although the epidemic situation “remains tense in France and the virus is still circulating a lot”, Gabriel Attal tested positive on Tuesday on CNews.

Based on the advice of scientists, the government spokesman said “there were reasons for optimism today”.

“We see that the Delta wave has really regressed, we see that the circulation tends to slow down and that in the regions where the Omicron wave started first, in particular in Île-de-France, there is the beginning of a decline […] We see that in our intensive care units, the situation has stabilized, the tension is no longer increasing, ”he listed. “Now we obviously have to remain vigilant and continue our efforts.”

On the Blanquer controversy

Asked in particular about the controversy surrounding the holidays in Ibiza by Jean-Michel Blanquer, Gabriel Attal indicated that he “was not there to lecture or to judge the feelings of each other or of the French”.

He particularly wanted to recall that the Minister of Education had respected the rules in force for the holidays. “You have to be contactable at all times. At his task. I have no reason to think that this was not the case with Jean-Michel Blanquer”.
