Crime scene: It will soon be time to say goodbye to these investigators

The crime series "SOKO Kitzbühel" ends in 2021. Investigators Pokorny and Co. are not the only ones fans have to say goodbye to.

The German-Austrian crime series "SOKO Kitzbühel" has been on ORF since 2001 and on ZDF since 2003. In mid-July 2020, the broadcasters announced that the series would be discontinued next year after the anniversary season (20th season), which is currently being filmed, was broadcast. After all, the investigation should continue in Austria afterwards, but from a new SOKO at another Austrian location. This is of course no consolation for the fans. But at least you can share your suffering with the fans of these crime series.

"The Commissioner and the Sea"

It only became known in June that ZDF would also end the German-Swedish crime series "The Commissioner and the Sea". "After careful consideration, we decided, in agreement with everyone involved, to discontinue the series. This step was not easy for us, but in order to be able to develop something new, we have to say goodbye to established series again and again," it said at the time . Together with actor Walter Sittler (67), who has been investigating Robert Anders on the Swedish island of Gotland since 2007, work is already underway on a new idea.

The "Commissioner and the Sea" will remain available to viewers until at least 2021: the last and 29th film in the series with the working title "Where we come from, where we go" will be shot in autumn 2020. The 28th case, "The Commissioner and the Sea – Happy Days", is already finished, but a broadcast date has not yet been fixed.

"The Criminalist"

"Der Kriminalist" with Berlin actor Christian Berkel (62) in the title role of the silent LKA chief inspector Bruno Schumann has been running on ZDF since 2006. After 109 episodes, the series should now come to an end this year "in agreement with everyone involved", as the broadcaster announced in April 2019. Most recently, the episode "Immortal" was broadcast in November 2019, episode 103, so fans still have six episodes. The 23rd and last season of the Friday crime series starts on August 28th at 8:15 p.m. with the episode "The Evil in Us".

"Hero"

And the crime series "Heldt" also ends this year. The twelve new episodes of season eight were shot in summer 2019 and are scheduled to be broadcast on ZDF from October 21. Then it is time to say goodbye to criminal commissioner Nikolas Heldt (Kai Schumann) and prosecutor Ellen Bannenberg (Janine Kunze). The two have been solving their cases in the Ruhr metropolis of Bochum since 2013.

"Murder Commission Istanbul"

The crime series "Murder Commission Istanbul" (Das Erste) with Erol Sander (51) as Commissioner Mehmet Özakin is also about to end. However, there are no declining quotas behind the reduction: "The 'Murder Commission Istanbul' has been one of our success formats for many years. We have been producing the crime series since 2008, but the world in which we were commissioned by Commissioner Özakin has existed for some time No more time, "the broadcaster said. In view of the political situation, the last films were no longer made in Istanbul.

And the last edition even goes to southern Africa: "At the end of this special crime series, Commissioner Mehmet Özakin is once again investigating outside of Turkey, in South Africa. The shooting is planned for 2020", according to the current status.
