Covid-19, bronchiolitis, flu… Epidemics are multiplying and further shaking hospital services, already faced with understaffing and a lack of resources. The result of “decades of under-investment in the hospital” assured Stanislas Guerini, Minister of Transformation and Public Service, guest of Europe Matin on Friday.

Triple epidemic, demonstration of general practitioners, threat of a new laboratory strike… The French health system is suffering and caregivers are on their knees. Traveling to the South Francilien Hospital Center in Corbeil-Essonnes this Friday morning, Emmanuel Macron will present his wishes to caregivers and discuss the overhaul of the health system. “We have long been in a form of vicious circle at the hospital where the more difficulties there are, the more difficult it is also to recruit”, assured Stanislas Guerini, Minister of Transformation and the Public Service, guest of Europe Morning Friday.

Changing methods and finding “permanent solutions”

In hospitals, the shortage of personnel is mixed with the lack of means and creates an untenable situation. The Force Ouvrière union has also called for an “unlimited strike” from January 10. For Stanislas Guerini, we must “put an end to this vicious circle”. “The Minister of Health François Braun is committed to it with a lot of energy and is taking emergency measures to solve the shorter-term problems”, continued the minister at the microphone of Europe 1. Barely appointed to the ministry , François Braun had promised to tackle “emergency” hot issues, starting with the hospital crisis. “It is the health system as a whole that must be successfully overhauled to find lasting solutions,” added Stanislas Guerini.

“Decades of underinvestment”

According to a survey published in The echoes, 51% of French people say they have complicated, long or partial access to health services, a figure up 19% compared to 2021. A situation that the minister explains by a period of pandemic and “decades of under- investments in the hospital, in the health system and an organization of a health care system that was not working”. But he assures him, restructuring the French health system “is not done in a day”.

For the first time in six years, the Head of State will therefore devote a speech to health professionals this Friday, certainly to “give a course, a vision”, listen to these caregivers and perhaps reveal part of the plan. health on which his Minister of Health is working.
