Daily: columnist Maïa Mazaurette announces that she has found her sick father

Maïa Mazaurette has announced that her father who disappeared in the streets of Berlin on February 7 has finally been found by the police. The Daily columnist thanked the police on Twitter.

It’s a relief for Maia Mazaurette. The columnist of Day-to-day and France Inter announced good news on Twitter on Tuesday: after long hours of research and calls for help, she found her dad. Indeed, since Monday, February 7, the man could not be found in the streets of Berlin. Suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, he had no “no papers or phone”as Maïa Mazaurette wrote.

And finally, it was the police who tracked him down. If the author and illustrator does not know more about her state of health, she wanted to express her joy. “My father has just been found by the police. I don’t know in what state, I don’t know where, but it’s solved. Thank you all for the thousand ideas and helping hands. Operation ‘Lost Dad ‘: finished! Thank you Twitter and long live the Internet! (And frankly long live the police!)”, she wrote, with delight. A case that had moved the web: this tweet was “liked” by more than 10,000 Internet users in just a few hours.

A desperate call from Maïa Mazaurette

Maia Mazaurette had made this first call for help the day before: “Desperate move: this is my father, Olivier, who has Alzheimer’s disease. He has been missing for five hours now in Berlin (Mitte district). He is wearing a kind of burgundy bomber jacket. The police and the embassy have been notified. He has no money, papers or phone.” Along with some details: “He must be hungry and cold, not to mention tired. We’ve been looking for hours and we’re out of ideas. If you see him, contact me (or call the police).”

The web was then mobilized to find the man, some giving him advice to try to help him find his way, sharing their personal experience with Alzheimer’s disease.
