Dax and Pau, soon on the route of a night train to Paris?

The collective “Yes to the night train” defends a new route for the Paris – Lourdes line. This is experiencing difficulties, with a terminus which is sometimes in Toulouse

It was one of the symbols of the comeback of night trains. Relaunched in December 2021, the Paris – Lourdes via Tarbes line finally offers some inconvenience to its users, who see their journey end in Toulouse due to a lack of staff.

“To specifically improve the circulation of Paris – Lourdes, the parliamentarians of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées have proposed a route via Bordeaux and Dax, indicates the collective “Yes to the night train” on January 18. While work is planned for 2022 on both Paris – Limoges and Toulouse – Tarbes, this route should be studied, as it is more robust and already partly regenerated. It is also more direct and will therefore be preferred in the long term. In addition, this would allow the service of Pau, and the addition of a branch towards the Basque Coast and Spain.

As the presidential and legislative elections approach, the “Oui au train de nuit” collective invites candidates to commit to doubling the investment in the regeneration of the network and night trains, by answering its questionnaire on yesautraindenuit.wordpress.com.
