Details on confession – After chisel murder of wife, burglary faked

After the turning point in the Oberwaltersdorf murder case (Lower Austria), the “Krone” now knows the first details about the background to the bloody deed in the Baden district. It was not until Thursday that the 64-year-old husband made a comprehensive confession after investigators presented him with the murder weapon.

On August 24, the news of another murder of a woman shook not only the community of Oberwaltersdorf in the district of Baden. Another woman died under brutal circumstances. And as is so often the case, the suspected perpetrator is his own husband. After weeks of silence and numerous lies, the 64-year-old suspect now confessed to having killed his wife with a chisel, the “Krone” reported. He stabbed the 57-year-old about ten times. “In the affect,” as his defense attorney Manfred Arbacher-Stöger emphasizes together with attorney Michael Dohr. The crime was not planned well in advance. “In this case, the circumstances play a major role. That’s why we don’t plead for murder, but for manslaughter,” he explains to the “Krone”. In the presence of his defense attorneys, the 64-year-old now put the facts on the table: “Yes, I killed my wife,” he finally admitted in tears. He didn’t plan the act: he lost control and in blind rage he hit her head several times with a chisel. Only when he saw his dead wife lying in front of him did he realize what had happened. First details come to light On the morning of August 24, the 64-year-old went on one of his usual jogging sessions. When he returned home, the situation finally escalated. The 64-year-old wants to have made advances to his loved ones. But things turned out differently: After the accused had already signed over all of his wife’s possessions – including the house they shared – she now threatened to withdraw his right of residence. He then got the chisel and stabbed. Only when he noticed the blood on his hands did he forge the plan to fake a burglary. In a nearby forest he got rid of the murder weapon. He then called the rescue services and attempted to revive his wife, who was already dead. Long-standing marriage problems The suspect weaves a web of humiliation, long-standing arguments and problems in the marriage to the background of the crime. Some differences of opinion are said to have led to tensions between the spouses for several days. An imminent separation or divorce was not discussed, but this was inevitable. On Thursday, when he was presented with the previously found chisel with his wife’s bloodstains, he finally made a comprehensive confession.
