Christina Perri heartbreakingly announces her daughter has been ‘born silent’

Christina Perri has heartbreakingly announced her newborn daughter was “born silent”, days after she was hospitalised and told he would need to give birth early.

The Jar of Hearts singer, 34, shared the heartbreaking news on her Instagram as she shared a photo of herself, her husband Paul Costabile holding their baby girl’s hand.

She then wrote in the caption: “last night we lost our baby girl. she was born silent after fighting so hard to make it to our world. she is at peace now and will live forever in our hearts.”

Christina received thousands of messages of heartfelt condolences in the comments.

One fan wrote: “i am so, so sorry. sending so much love your way” followed by two red heart emojis.

As another said: “Oh my God. I’m truly so sorry, Christina. I’m sending you and your family my best wishes of healing and strength.”

While a third wrote: “I am so so sorry. Sending prayers and love to you and your family”.

Christina’s entertainment reporter husband Paul shared the same photo as his wife and included the same caption before adding: “It’s been a rough couple weeks and we’re so grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers from you all”.

The singer has revealed to fans that she had been suffering complications during her pregnancy and shared the news she had been hospital with fans last week.

She wrote on her Instagram story: “Hey friends. Well, nothing ever goes as we plan.

“Baby is having an issue, so I’m gonna be here till it’s time for baby to come out. Which might have to be very soon. Which is very early.

“Please send some love from your heart to the little heart beating in me that we all make it through this.

“I’m grateful for doctors and nurses and will do whatever they suggest we do.”

Christina, who has two year old daughter Carmella with husband Paul, later explained how her daughter would need emergency surgery after her birth as she had a rare birth defect known as jejunal atresia, which is an absence in the bowel which causes a blockage within the bowel, according to the NHS.

Updating her fans, she wrote: “We met with the surgeon and she’s amazing. Baby has jejunal atresia but we won’t know how severe til surgery”.

She later thanked fans for their support as she wrote on her Instagram story: “Hi friends. Thank you for another day of thousands of messages, stories, prayers, texts, flowers, support and love. Me and baby are ok.”

Christina announced she had suffered a miscarriage at 11 weeks in January this year.

She wrote on her social media at the time: “Today I had a miscarriage. Baby was 11 weeks old. We are shocked & completely heartbroken.

“We were only 1 week away from sharing the news so I feel like it’s also important to share this news too. I want to continue to help change the story & stigma around miscarriage, secrecy and shame.

“I am so sad but not ashamed. I am ever reminded how amazing and powerful women are at making life and at healing. To all the mothers who have been here and who will be here, I see you and I love you. I am so sad but not discouraged.”

Christina ended her heartbreaking message with: “When the time feels right we will try again, but today we mourn our little life lost.”
