did her husband have had hidden motives to kill his wife?

After confessing to the murder of his wife, Karine Esquivillon, Michel Pialle is now in prison. But could the man, who pleads the accident, have had other reasons to kill his wife?

She disappeared on March 27. Karine Esquivillon was nowhere to be found until mid-June, when investigators confused her husband. In custody, the latter ended up confessing to having killed her by accident. According to him, he accidentally shot her while photographing one of his rifles, which he wanted to sell. The mother was then hit in the side and died very quickly, according to her husband. The autopsy report confirmed the location of the bullet impact.

But this Saturday, October 7, the daily The Parisian reports that Michel Pialle, whose position is doubted by the investigating judges, could having had hidden motives to kill Karine Esquivillon. Indeed, a few months after the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Karine and her husband had undertaken to help the family of two boys enrolled in their daughter’s school. Their mother was stuck in the country at war and was able to be repatriated to Vendée with her husband and her two eldest daughters thanks to the Pialle-Esquivillon couple. Problem: Investigators discovered that Michel Pialle received directly into an accountto which only he had access, social benefits received by Ukrainian refugees.

Karine Esquivillon, killed because she knew too much?

Each month, as soon as the transfer of CAF services arrived in Michel Pialle’s account, a transfer was made on the same day, of the same amount, to an IBAN in Luxembourg, report the investigators, as the newspaper pointed out. If the account is opened in the name of the Ukrainian family, only Michel Pialle has access to it. “Access to the account was impossible. […] I don’t know if there’s any money left in it.”explained the Ukrainian father to the police in early June. Michel Pialle having been convicted several times for fraud, justice decided to look into this story. A report sent to the courts is currently being analyzed, according to sources close to the case. Another hypothesis, Karine Esquivillon could not have borne learning of a possible scam from her husband. “This would have been very bad for Karine. She had invested a lot in these refugees and could have threatened Michel to denounce him”confided a close friend of the mother. Justice is also studying the possible infidelities of Michel Piallehe who notably registered on Tinder in January 2023. Is Karine Esquivillon had discovered the scam and threatened to denounce it ? Would he then have chosen to kill her to silence her? It will be up to the courts to decide. He, once again, maintained his version of the facts at the end of July.
