"Sport makes you happy!", The message of the month. But the truth is: TOO MUCH sport makes you totally unhappy. Not that we were in danger now … but it should be said!

We almost got a guilty conscience … Everywhere you looked, the big news: Sport makes you happier than money. Found out at Yale and Yale not only sounds like an elite university, it is. So you have to believe it. Luckily we found the big BUT. Because just like money, the "more is more" equation just doesn't work when it comes to happiness.

A maximum of three to five times a week

For particularly athletic people who want to impress us with daily half marathons, we now have a scientifically proven answer, namely: We are so sorry for you! Unfortunately, luck is on our side. Because even more unhappy than no sport is too much sport. You should train a maximum of three to five times for 30 to 60 minutes in order to tap the optimal happiness effect. Anything above is completely counterproductive.

Sport is generally overrated

And for everyone who doesn't manage three to five times either: Not bad at all. There are experts who consider sport to be completely overrated. Well, they may not have studied at Yale. For that they are very personable. Maybe because they are happy even without exercise …
