The first parts of the “Die Hard” series are action classics. A planned sixth film will not be shot after all.

Bad news for all action fans: Bruce Willis (66) will not return to the cinemas as John McClane. The sixth part of the “Die Hard” series, also known as “McClane”, is not filmed. This is what producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (64) recently explained to the gaming and entertainment portal “Polygon”.

At least his planned project, which was first mentioned in 2015, will “not happen,” said the 64-year-old. The industry magazine “Deadline” reported at the timethat Lorenzo di Bonaventura and director Len Wiseman (48) are looking for a scriptwriter to implement their idea for another part.

A young and an old McClane

The interesting thing about the idea was “that it gave fans the opportunity to meet the young John McClane and also to show Bruce”. So you could accommodate both Willis and a younger actor. Work on the script had progressed, but then Disney bought 21st Century Fox in 2019. And with that, “McClane” apparently died, because the producer also explains: “I don’t know what your plans are.”

“Die Hard” was released in 1988. Willis became a star with the action flick. Over the years, four more films followed, always with the actor in the lead role.
