Do you prefer breakfast with muesli and the like? Then maybe you should rethink, because a hot breakfast has many health benefits.

Whether scrambled eggs, pancakes or porridge – all of these delicious breakfast dishes have one big advantage: They are served warm or cooked. And that not only tastes good, it also benefits your health immensely.

4 reasons a cooked breakfast is so healthy

1. Promote digestion

Processing cold and raw foods costs our digestive system a lot of energy. Therefore, you can save him some work by having a cooked breakfast instead. This gives the gastrointestinal tract more power for other tasks.

2. Immune boost

This includes, for example, our immune system – a large part of it is located in the intestines. By having a warm breakfast and relieving the digestion, your intestines have more time for your immune system. And can’t we all use it?

3. Internal clock

Our body runs at full speed 24 hours a day to enable us to lead a healthy and active life. Of course, not every part of this fascinating organism works equally hard at all times. Instead, it follows an internal clock, and this is the factor that most health teachings incorporate. These include the ancient Indian health system Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). And both teachings conclude that a hot breakfast makes our bodies easier to do its job:

  • According to Ayurveda is the morning, between 6 and 10 a.m., the time of the Kapha Dosha. The so-called doshas are types of energy, and kapha is the most sluggish of the three. This sluggishness also relates to our digestion, which is not so active in the morning and is therefore happy to have a warm breakfast.
  • According to the TCM teaching the morning is all about the spleen, which is closely related to the lungs. And by activating the energy of the spleen, you are also strengthening the lungs.

4. No more cravings

Another advantage: by getting your spleen going with a warm breakfast, you also protect yourself from food cravings later in the day. Traditional Chinese Medicine also describes such a snack appetite as a spleen Qi deficiency (Qi means life energy) – and it has no chance if you have a balanced and warm breakfast.

Ideas and tips for a hot breakfast

porridge

According to Ayurveda, a delicious cereal porridge – such as a porridge – is the perfect breakfast. And everyone gets their money’s worth here, because the porridge can be prepared with a wide variety of ingredients such as fruit and nuts and also spices. Cinnamon and turmeric are safe choices for the cold months as they also have anti-inflammatory properties.

Scrambled eggs or fried eggs

If you like eggs, you can have a wonderfully warm breakfast. Depending on your taste, scrambled eggs or a fried egg can be used. Simply garnish with delicious herbs and maybe some steamed vegetables – and your warm breakfast is ready.

Pancakes

A classic, perfect for the weekend: pancakes are also a delicious option for a cooked breakfast. How about some fruit for extra immune power?

Toasted bread

But if you prefer to have a very simple sandwich for breakfast, there is also a solution for you here: Simply slide your bread into the toaster for a few minutes! This will at least make it easier for your digestion by consuming it warm.
