Seven years after the final part of "Paranormal Activity", a reboot is being planned. The seventh film is slated to hit theaters in 2022.

A reboot of the horror film series "Paranormal Activity" is being planned. This is reported by "The Hollywood Reporter", among others. Accordingly, "Underwater" director William Eubank (38) and Christopher Landon (45, "Freaky"), who has already worked on four "Paranormal Activity" films, will direct the seventh film in the popular horror series.

Blumhouse Productions boss Jason Blum (51) and filmmaker Oren Peli (51) as well as Steven Schneider (47) – the three heads behind the "Paranormal Activity" films between 2007 and 2015 – are also among the producers of the new reboot. It is not yet known exactly what the new flick will be about, but a planned release date has already been set: The film is due to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.

The storyline of the original films – a family is terrorized by a demon – comes from the pen of Oren Peli, who wrote, directed and directed the first film. Most of the films were shot with cell phones and video cameras and thus managed on a small budget – the first film is therefore one of the most profitable films of all time.
