Corona has strange flowers. This probably also includes the parking lot parties in Klagenfurt, which have become a fixed date for many young people since spring. But now the parking lot owners are forced to act. Security guards and barriers are supposed to spoil the fun of partying for the participants.
What began peacefully in the corona lockdowns is now causing more and more headaches. The parking lot celebrations – organized on the Instagram page klagenfurt_elite – threaten to get out of hand. Inquiries in the shops that the parking spaces belong to are usually denied.
“We cannot answer for it if something happens”
“We cannot answer for it if something happens,” explains a Klagenfurt retailer. Most of the parking spaces are privately owned, which is why the operators are now relying on security and barriers. But only with moderate success: the young people quickly organize a new, unsecured parking space on Instagram – until the partiers are chased away again. “We are not officially the organizers and we don’t want to do anything illegal. We only share the information from the young people, ”explains an elite member.
Solutions are being sought
Mayor Christian Scheider wants to intervene: “We are looking for a solution with everyone involved. The companies should benefit from this as well as the young people. ”What the new regulation might look like has not yet been clarified.
