Donald Trump lost his lawyers before impeachment. Now the former US president has presented his new team.

Former US President Donald Trump (74) has presented his new defenders in impeachment proceedings. Trump's office announced on Sunday evening (local time), according to CNN, that the new team would be led by trial lawyers David Schoen and Bruce Castor.

"It is an honor to represent the 45th President Donald J. Trump and the United States Constitution," Schoen said in a statement. "I consider it a privilege to represent the 45th President. The strength of our constitution is being tested like never before in our history," added Castor. Both agree that the trial against Trump is unconstitutional, the statement said. CNN had previously reported that Trump's team practically collapsed after five lawyers left. The reason for their exit should have been differences between Trump and the defense lawyers regarding the defense strategy.

Donald Trump is already divorced from the office of the US President, but the US Democrats are continuing the second impeachment proceedings against him. This could ban the Republicans from holding political office again. The accusation: "inciting a riot" because of his speech immediately before the storming of the Capitol by a violent mob of his supporters on January 6th. The impeachment against the predecessor of US President Joe Biden (78) should begin in the second week of February.
