Duchess Kate attended a St. Patrick’s Day parade with Prince William. She was greeted by an Irish wolfhound.

Duchess Kate (40) and her husband Prince William (39) held their traditional visit to the Irish Guards on St. Patrick’s Day this Thursday (March 17). The Cambridges did not only meet 1st Battalion at the Mons Barracks compound in Aldershot, Hampshire. One soldier had the Guards mascot named Turlough Mor, also known as Seamus, at his side. The Irish wolfhound wore a red cape for the occasion and stood still. The Duchess showed no shyness in front of the big, gray four-legged friend and stroked his head.

Duchess Kate: A look all in green

At the ceremony, Kate distributed according to the Daily Mail according to tradition also shamrocks to the members of the regiment. The 40-year-old wore a dark green coat dress by Laura Green London for the occasion. A waist belt emphasized the slim silhouette of the Duchess. She combined matching pumps and a hat with the outfit. Prince William, who is Honorary Colonel in the Irish Guards, wore a dark uniform.

The couple attended the official celebrations for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020. Last year, the Cambridges only sent a video message to the Irish people. Prince William also put his language skills to the test and greeted the audience with the Irish words: “Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh” (“Happy St. Patrick’s Day!”). On March 17th, the Irish celebrate their national saint and patron saint St. Patrick every year.
