Jessica Mulroney is in tears: During a state funeral, Duchess Meghan’s once best friend has to say goodbye to her father-in-law Brian Mulroney forever.
They haven’t been confidants for some time, but these days Duchess Meghan, 42, is probably thinking about her once best friend Jessica Mulroney, 44, several times. The celebrity stylist, who is said to have met Meghan in 2011, is mourning the death of her father-in-law. Brian Mulroney, †84, was honored at a state funeral on March 23, 2024 in Montreal, Quebec. Moving scenes were created at his coffin.

Former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney died on February 29, 2024 at the age of 84. His daughter Caroline Mulroney, 49, wrote shortly afterwards on X (formerly Twitter) that he fell asleep peacefully surrounded by his family. Canada’s current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 52, praised him as an “extraordinary statesman” and someone “who had the courage to do great things.”

In addition to Mulroney’s four children, grandchildren and daughter-in-law Jessica Mulroney, Trudeau also attended the funeral service at Notre-Dame de Montréal, according to the CBC news channel. Duchess Meghan’s former best friend then addressed touching words to her father-in-law on Instagram.
“To know you was to love you”
She writes: “I consider myself one of the lucky ones… To know you was to love you. You always made us laugh with your unique gift of storytelling. A soothing baritone voice that I could listen to for hours. Not a day went by, “Your Ben, Brian, John, Ivy and I didn’t feel loved by you. Rest in peace, Dad. You were truly one of a kind.”

During the two-hour ceremony, Brian Mulroney’s daughter Caroline was the first to give a moving speech in honor of her late father, according to CBC. She serves as a Cabinet Minister of Ontario.

The recordings of Brian’s sons Mark – Jessica’s husband – and Ben and Nicholas Mulroney are particularly heartwarming. They lie in each other’s arms as they shed tears at their father’s coffin.
